Bali is every surfer’s paradise. There are tons of surfing spots around Bali whether you are a beginner or an advanced surfer. Do you know which one suits your level and expectations? Here’s our compilation of the best surf spots around Bali.

 

Beginner-intermediate:

 

Kuta Beach

Since the 1930’s, this white sand beach attracts beginner up to intermediate surfers. This is one of the most popular beach in Bali: it’s possible to find a lot of public facilities around the beach as restaurants, shops and hotels. Here you can catch your first white water wave and practice in take off.

 

Batu Bolong beach

The beautiful black sandy beach is one of the easiest and most popular spot in Canggu for surfing. The waves are generally fat and powerful: it’s perfect for beginners and longboarders. Jimbaran

Jimbaran beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Bali with its white fine sand and its turquoise water. Jimbaran is a perfect spot for beginners with gentle waves . Also, this spot is not really crowded, but working only when the swell is big.

 

Kedungu

Seminyak is really famous beach: it attracts a lot of tourist as there’s a lot of restaurants, hotels and shops around. The waves are generally small which is great for beginners.

The surf spot located right beside Denpasar airport is far away from the shore. Surfers must use the traditional boat to reach the spot. The waves are powerful and fast. It attracts intermediate up to professional surfers.

 

Kuta reef

The surf spot is located about 800 meters from the shore in front of Sandi Phala Motel. The best way to get to the spot is to use a local boat, they’ll also pick you back up when your session will be done. Advanced to expert surfers only should surf there.

 

Berawa beach

Tibubeneng, North Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia

Tanah Lot

Tanah Lot Beach is famous worldwide because of the unique Hindu temple set on a rock in the middle of the water. We can find powerful and fat waves that intermediate up to experience surfers can ride.

 

Serangan

Serangan beach is one of the best surf points in Bali: it has fast, powerful and fat waves. A good paddle is needed to reach the surf point as it is in the middle of the sea.

 

Binging

The black sand beach is one of the best surf points in Bali. The right-hander waves are generally powerful. Depend of the swell Bingin beach waves attract beginners up to advanced surfers.

 


Medewi 

Medewi, Pekutatan, Jembrana Regency, Bali, Indonesia

Medewi is one of the longest left hander wave in Bali, up to 200 m. Spot is great for intermediate and advance surfers. Beginner surfer can enjoy the spot during the high tide and when the swell is not big, but should be always supervised by guide. Bottom is rocky and shallow what make this spot dangerous for beginners.

 

Expert

 

Padang-Padang

Padang Padang Beach, Pecatu, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia

Located on the north-western coast of Bukit Peninsula, Padang-Padang is the perfect place for experienced and pro surfers that are looking for high waves. When the swell is big enough there are great sets of barrels. Some of  the international surfing events take place there like the Rip Curl Cup Padang-Padang.

 

Uluwatu

Uluwatu is famous for its beautiful scenery, waves and location. The surf spot is situated deep under the oldest temple in Bali: Uluwatu temple which is on a cliff blank. The waves are fast, powerful and the barrels force the surfers to use their top skills.

Green bowl

Getting to Green bowl might be hard, but certainly worth it. This exotic white sand beach offers really good surf. The little paradise is known as a ‘’secret’’ spot: there’s a really small crowd. Bingin
